The Key That Unlocks the Power of Self-Care

Have you ever considered that resting does not always mean taking a nap? I’m discovering the gift of active rest and how it unlocks the power of self-care to help me build a remarkable life of grace and ease. And I want you to use this key to unlock the same power in your life too!

I know what it’s like to struggle, to be overwhelmed, and have people watch you struggle and not be willing to throw out a lifeline as they see you drowning.

And sometimes in those moments, it can feel like in order to get the help you need, you have to sell everything you own. I have been there and I don’t want anyone else to go through that if they can instead learn from my experiences.

Active rest is a powerful weapon in the arsenal of self-care rhythms. It enables you to wisely identify what I call “rinse and repeat” practices in your schedule. These are actions that you can duplicate and accomplish consistently each week so that your life feels more freed up and less inundated by the demands of the world around you.

Regular planning is one of those “rinse and repeats” that I want you to incorporate consistently into your life. Using my Rest and Build Your Best Remarkable Year Planner to help you plan for your week is an excellent way of bringing active rest through self-care into your life.

You have to make the time to stop and think about your planning. Your planning won’t happen just because you know it needs to happen. Some of us are really overwhelmed at the moment, so if you can only get one day of planning done, get that one done. And then the next day, get another day done. You’ll be building a healthy norm of taking time to plan and then you can begin to expand on daily planning to weekly planning.

The reason successful companies stay in business is that they have a plan. You need a plan for your life! God created you to live abundantly and “stay in the business” of living your life incredibly well and beautifully! God designed us to have order in our lives but Satan wants us to live disorderly. He wants us to be chasing our tails and constantly spinning our wheels, which causes unproductivity.

Push past that stumbling block from the enemy and identify the things you have to do consistently so that you can live a remarkable life with grace and ease. Take baby steps to keep moving forward in the right direction.

If you’re overwhelmed, consider getting up one hour earlier to give yourself the time you need to feel more prepared and plan out your day more effectively. Don’t be too busy to create a space to take care of yourself, build your spiritual life, and add the things on your plate you need to add.

Choose the right things.

Choose what is really best for you.

Take some time and think about what part of your life do you feel unprepared for? What would make you feel better prepared? I challenge you to set aside a certain amount of time this week to actively rest by planning out next week and how you want to experience those approaching seven days. Sundays could be a great way for you to actively rest by planning while also reclaiming your Sabbath as you grab a cup of tea and sip in the goodness! Take the challenge and comment below or on the RLI Facebook page and let me know how your active rest changed you!
