“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”  Luke 2:14

God wants you to be filled with His peace. He wants you to have the peace that surpasses all understanding – Philippians 4:7. That’s a gift that He promises to us as a part of the Remarkable Life. But unfortunately, sometimes the seasons we’re in, especially Christmas, as Remarkable Women feel anything BUT peaceful.

Life is full of hustle and grind. You may be wondering how it’s possible to have a peaceful experience in these moments. Take a break. Slow down a bit. And grab a hot cup of tea, the symbol of rest for Remarkable Living Institute. I can’t wait to share these four tips to help you rise above the overwhelm, steer clear of burnout and continue building a life of grace and ease:

1. Everything Doesn’t Have to be Perfect

Despite what media, advertising, and even your friends may tell you, it’s not a necessity for everything to be perfect all the time. Perfection may be an unattainable goal for some but it’s often a stressor for the rest of us!

It’s okay to keep things simple and create an environment for your life that creates margins for the unexpected. A relaxed woman creates a relaxed atmosphere, and that peace is a greater gift than perfection.

2. Take Time to Relax

Take a time-out this week and do something you truly enjoy. You can relax by watching a favorite movie, reading a good book, sitting for a moment in your favorite chair or having a warm cup of your favorite tea.

Tell your family that you need some time for yourself to relax and refresh. Many of us live “being on” all of the time – for those we love and support in our families, those we work with professionally, and also those we serve in ministries and organizations close to our hearts.

Giving out much of yourself demands that you become just as intentional to pour back into you. It’s essential to take time regularly to do things you enjoy just for you. Choose activities that are life-giving and speak to how you’re wired.

Seek to be good to yourself and honor the way God has intentionally designed you. Keep in mind if you’re introverted or extroverted. Introverts need time to reflect and recharge by themselves. Extroverts need social interaction and time to connect with others to recharge. Make sure you are building your energy well.

During your relaxation time, you can pray, read your Bible, meditate, journal or reflect on the good things in your life. Finding time to relax and refresh is sure to bring peace to your soul.

3. Don’t Do it Alone

As women, we wear so many hats. Many of us feel like it’s all our responsibility to do everything. I have been there too!  But God didn’t make us superwomen – He made us human, with limitations to show us we can’t do life alone. It’s okay to ask people in your family for help and encouragement.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you can also reach out to friends. Even if they’re too busy to meet up, they can listen by phone and offer their emotional support. Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.” Galatians 6:2 says, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Remember: God has given us the gift of friendship to help us during difficult and stressful times. As the Remarkable Woman, you don’t have to go at it alone!

4. Lean on God

Leaning on friends and family for support is a good way to bring peace into our lives. They are not to replace resting in God. It’s even more vital that we lean on God.

God is able to give us perfect love, and perfect peace. He knows our troubles, stress, and grief, and He is the source of all that is good. James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

God knows our troubles before we even come to Him, and He wants us to have His peace. He is consistent in His love for us. James reminds us that God is not a shifting shadow. He doesn’t love us one day and despise us the next. His love is overflowing, his love is constant, and he is the author of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33).

Lean into His love daily and gather your strength from His wellspring that will never run dry. And consider joining our Remarkable Life By Design Community to learn  how you can plan to destress on a regular basis. Peace is a gift and God wants you to freely experience it.
